Highlife artiste, Bisa Kdei, has released his third album dubbed ‘Highlife Konnect’, which has been described by many as “indigenous” and “contemporary”.
The unveiling, which took place at the Airport Square in Accra, witnessed scores of industry players, musicians in attendance to support the 2016 Highlife Artistes of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards.
The 32-year-old singer known for his hit songs such as ‘Mansa’ and ‘Brother Brother’ launched the 15-track album on Saturday, which features great collaborations.
Some of the artistes on the album include Sarkodie, Patoranking, Kumi Guitar, Yaa Yaa, Mayorkun, Reekado Banks, Zambia’s Oc Osilliation and Cameroonian Stanley Enow.
The album has songs like ‘Bra’, 1924’, ‘Fakye’, ‘Domi Bi’ and ‘Bie Wueni’.
When asked why he featured artistes from Cameroon, Zambia and Nigeria on the album, Bisa Kdei, known in real life as Ronald Kweku Dei Appiah, said he wants to connect Africa with his music.
“It’s been two years now since I released an album and as a musician, when I am booked for shows, you see lots of artistes who admire our Ghanaian genre of music dubbed ‘Highlife’ [because of this] it was important for me to connect with these great talents to aid me to release my third album,” he explained.
